MK Haskel to oppose supermarket law: 'Gov't not supposed to impose values'

MK Sharren Haskel (Likud) announced she will be voting against the supermarket law—giving the interior minister the authority to order supermarket to close on Shabbat—expected to come to a Knesset vote this coming Monday.

 

"Religion is a private matter. The state is not supposed to impose values or ways of life on its citizenry. I cannot abide by a law discriminating between cities and undermining the status quo.
