Israeli shoots daughter in murder-suicide in Texas
An Israeli reserved computer programmer going through divorce and custody battle for daughter, found dead alongside his daughter in his home by police, welfare officials.
A 42-year-old Israeli man living in Travis county, Texas killed his nine-year-old daughter before turning the gun on himself, US media reported on Thursday.
Police and social welfare personnel were sent to the home in North Richland Hills, outside Dallas, early Monday morning for a welfare call.
After knocking on the door and receiving no response, they looked through the window. Upon seeing the bodies on the floor, they broke into the house and discovered the lifeless bodies of the father and daughter, both with bullet wounds.

Travis county records verify that Kaplan was going through a divorce and battling his wife for custody over his daughter. The next hearing was scheduled for January 2018.
The Israeli Consulate in Houston notified the Foreign Ministry in Jerusalem, who in turn notified the families.
Nearby residents say the man, a Technion graduate working as a computer programmer in Texas since 2005, was very reserved and did not speak to neighbors.
