General strike over Teva redundancies won't include public transport, special education

Chairman of the Histadrut Labor Federation Avi Nissenkorn announced Friday that a general strike planned for Sunday in solidarity with the thousands of workers being laid off by the Teva Pharmaceuticals company will not include Israel’s train or public transport.

The decision, he said, was “out of consideration for the soldiers who need to get to their bases.”

In addition, Nissenkorn said that special education institutions would operate as usual.

A strike will begin at Ben Gurion Airport at 8am until 12pm and is expected to affect som 12,000 travellers flying abroad.
