IDF fires at Palestinians trying to cross Gaza border; 5 wounded

IDF Spokesperson's Unit says soldiers spotted five suspects approaching border fence in southern strip, east of Khan Younis; at least one of them was armed.

The IDF fired tank shells at a group of five Palestinians who had tried to cross the Gaza border fence east of Khan Younis in the southern strip on Tuesday night. Palestinian sources say they were all wounded.

 

 

The IDF Spokesperson's Unit said in a statement, "An IDF force spotted five suspects approaching the border fence in the night. At least one of them was armed. The force fired at the suspects."

Also Tuesday night, IDF, Border Guard, Shin Bet and Israel Police forces operating in the West Bank arrested a wanted Palestinian suspected of involvement in terrorist activity, popular terrorism and violent riots against civilians and security forces.

 

Forces of the Menashe Territorial Brigade operated Tuesday night in the West Bank city of Jenin. They raided a workshop for the production of illegal weapons. The equipment they confiscated included welders, discs and other tools used to manufacture the weapons.

 

"The IDF will keep working to thwart means of terror as part of our war on weapons to protect Israel's residents," the IDF Spokesperson's Unit said.
