Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu spoke at the Mount Herzl torch-lighting ceremony for Israel's 70th Independence Day, and said, "All of the ancient peoples of the world have been exiled from their homelands and dispersed. We alone refused to disappear. We have refused to assimilate and remained true to Zion, where he have taken strong root with flowering branches."
"Even today there are those who would seek to extinguish the light emanating from Zion. I assure: that will not happen," he declared.
"The deep admiration for Israel is finally reaching the Arab states. Here, I believe, are the seeds of true peace," he added.
