Hamas leader says group is trying to 'reach understandings' with Israel
Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh addressed on Friday the blockade on the Gaza Strip during an Islamic conference in Istanbul.

"We are working with a number of parties, including Egypt, Qatar and the United Nations, in an attempt to reach understandings that would break the siege," Hamas leader said, adding that "the understandings could lead to quiet in exchange for the lifting of the blockade.”

“The quiet does not have to be achieved at the expense of the Palestinian reconciliation,” he concluded.
