Likud's Erdan rejects Netanyahu offer to become UN envoy

Public Security Minister Gilad Erdan says he has turned down a proposal by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to become the next Israeli ambassador to the United Nations in New York, as he prefers to remain in his current post in Israel.

"After considering the proposal to be appointed Israeli ambassador to the UN, I decided that I should remain in my position... and stay in Israel during this important period to do all I can for a Netanyahu-led Likud victory," Erdan said.
