The assault case of top Reshet and Keshet executives Avi Nir and Shira Margalit came to an end Monday with the conviction of four people apparently sent by the late entertainer Dudu Topaz, who took his own life in prison over the scandal.
The man hired by Topaz to coordinate the attack, his neighbor Daniel Zanko, was convicted for assault and conspiring to commit a crime.
In addition, the court sentenced Eiman Zabidath, who provided a car to the people who attacked Margalit. Noam Awami was convicted of aiding and abetting the assault and injury of Keshet TV executive Avi Nir. Saliman Hiadra was convicted of assaulting Reshet executive Shira Margalit.
Similar arrangements were recently issued to additional people involved in the affair. At the beginning of November, Roman Aleyev confessed and was convicted for conspiring to commit a crime and attempted aggravated assault on entertainment agent, Boaz Ben-Zion. According to the plea bargain, he will serve seven months in jail.
Ibrahim Azam and Mohammad Yunis were also convicted for assaulting Ben-Zion. According to the bargain, Azam will serve one year in prison, and Yunis will serve seven months in prison.
In the indictment issued against Topaz on June 18 stated, "Topaz resolved in his heart to take revenge on the senior media officials whom he blamed for the slump in his career." Some two months later, on August 20, Topaz committed suicide in his prison cell.
