61. Better than the alternative
Yacov ,   Ashkelon   (01.03.07)
The haredi concern for modesty is much better than the alternative here in Ashkelon. Fake Jew Russian women parade around the streets dressed like whores, especially in the summer. Then they complain when the get treated like whores. Even worse, they are teaching their daughters to dress even more sleazy.

Jesus was Jewish.
63. Lecturer's notes
tma   (01.03.07)
Thank you for having me as your guest lecturer in this most venerable talkback forum. It's an honor to be here. Before I begin my lecture, I need to clarify some confusion: my lectures were erroneously titled "Not human behaviour" and "disgusting insults" when they are in fact titled "Will haredim and other religious Israelis ever be accepted as members of Israeli society" and "Religious observance perceived as intolerance - setting the record straight" Time permitting, it will be my pleasure to share with the public some thought-provoking concepts concerning the anti-semetic erev rav among us and Ynet's need to fill its non-news web site with malicious articles for the sole purpose of aggravating the campaign against religion in Israel.

You received good lessons from this what is called a "human" being .tma Are you his doughter ? so i'm not wondering . He is my favorite example of how those "people" behave . You have also good iran visiting friends , the same fine anti GOOD Israeli . Yes , qui se ressemble s'assemble . What means , the same folks sit together . You , this tma and your iranian friends .
65. yacov
charles ,   petach tikva   (01.03.07)
Not only fake jews of Russia , as you call them , parade so , good Israeli Sabras also . And they are right , something nice may be shown . A question , how do you know how whores are clothed ? your frequent visits there ? Sorry but i do'nt know how they are clothed .
66. I hate red
Frumma Bayla(Sue)   (01.03.07)
as it reminds me of my fleishig tea towels. ( Yes I have a dishwasher too. I married him ha ha) Nothing as sexy as black anyway, as the chareidiot know full well...
67. Explaination
B ,   Jerusalem   (01.03.07)
Jewish women will never end up in burkas. There is a concept in Jewish modesty thought that one should be attractive...not attracting. We, as a creation of the Divine Will, are royalty, however, we also must be humble in our royalty and not parade around showing off what we've been given, as this shows disrespect to our Creator. Would you prance around in front of your physical father in almost nothing, something that would cause attention. I doubt it. So to, as Jews, women, or men, are expected to be humble in dress, while being dignified. There's also the idea in Judaism of not putting a stumbling block before the blind- aka don't lead others to sin. By covering up, men and women are preventing the other from having sexual thoughts, which could turn to action. However, the honor one feels in dressing modestly is reason enough. Why won't people learn and study before making widespweeing assumptions about a people? Learn the reason behind halacha, otherwise there's no ground for anyone to criticize.
68. bright colors
B ,   Jerusalem   (01.03.07)
Any bright or attractve color: bright red, bright blue, bright yellow, bright green or bright pink are strongly restricted. Anything thats attracting, rather than attractive. We are to behave with dignity, not like tramps.
69. What About Tatoos & Body Piercing?
Terry ,   Eilat - Israel   (01.03.07)
I'm surprised no one mentioned this rather awful fashion. Wearing red is a minor question of little or no importance. But what could be less Jewish than tatoos & body piercing? I have to add, however, that there is nothing particularly Jewish about the way Haredim dress. Nothing in the Torah says you have to dress like medieval Polish noblemen with fur hats, etc. Nothing even says that your head must be covered at all times.
70. Now i know why
charles ,   petach tikva   (01.03.07)
red is banned . If charidi men see red clothes , like a bull , they are attracted . A good reason because they probably do'ny know to control themselve . Now , not every women has to wear red , black can be very nice and attractive too . All depends , who , what and how .
71. #69 - Terry
tma   (01.03.07)
I agree with you regarding the dress of the haredi men - all black suits and hats, and white shirts. However, one some sectors of the haredi community wear fur hats, "galgalim", white socks, silk robes, etc., not the haredi population in general. Regarding head cover, it's true that the torah does not mention that men need to cover their heads (wear a kipa) this was decided by the rabbis. However, women were definitely commanded by our Creator to cover their heads. Check it up: it says that the women who must cover their heads are the married ones, the divorced and the widows - in other words, all the non-virgins!
72. RETURN THIS ARTICLE TO THE FRONT PAGE
Yacov ,   Ashkelon   (01.03.07)
Ynet editors need to return this article to the front page. Many talkbacks suggest people want to discuss this issue. Don't bury it in the back pages.
73. To: #71 tma re; headcovering
Terry ,   Eilat - Israel   (01.03.07)
I'm not exactly sure about headcovering for women. I know that my grandmother wore a sheitl (wig) & I have a beautiful picture of her from maybe 1920-something & I think she was already married. I will look it up. thanks.
74. to Terry
tma   (01.03.07)
I'm sure your grandmother was a lovely woman. You also sound like a warm person. Have a great day!
75. #65 Charles: You haven't walked around Ashkelon
Yacov ,   Ashkelon   (01.03.07)
You have not walked around the streets of Ashkelon or you would have seen the fake Russian Jews parading their wares in the streets. You do not have to patronize whores to recognize their advertising, which they make very obvious.
76. Terry
charles ,   petach tikva   (01.03.07)
every thing has to be done with a certain restraint [ certaine mesure ] Too much is not always nice to see , i'm talking about piercing and tattoo . But some can be very nice . Earrings , commonly accepted are fine , No ? and why not a small one at another place ? Regarding tattoos , many regret that they have had it done , difficult to remove . But today there are small "decalcos" you can apply by yourself , funny , and they are easily removed , for me no problem . As long it is done with taste .
77. Not only Ashkelon
charles ,   petach tikva   (01.03.07)
In my town there are also many , if not more ex Russian immigrants , than in Ashkelon . And i'm walking around here . I will not deny that some "exagerate" , but you have this as i said also with the "native" hebrew speaking Sabras . And i repeat , something nice may be shown , and i prefer this on some scarecrows i see sometimes in my neigbourhood . I was already accosted in the center of my town , and on Allenby street in TA , in the middle of the day , by "correctly" clothed women , who spoke Hebrew as Sabras . So it's not what girls or women are wearing that makes them exercise the oldest profession of the world . It's what's inside the clothing .
78. #77 Charles: I agree with you.
Yacov ,   Ashkelon   (01.03.07)
However, the "kosher" label gives you an idea of the intent of the person displaying the label. So does a "terafah" label. (I'm not sure of English spelling). Why would someone selling pork wear a "kosher" label, other than outright deception? I would take a chance on someone displaying a "kosher" label, rather than someone who advertises that they are selling pork.
79. Men also have modest dress laws...
Alexander Popivker ,   Naples Italy   (01.03.07)
For example, men have to wear mainly dark colors that don't attract attention and cannot reveal parts of body usually covered, no tank tops for example.
80. Respect
Alexander Popivker   (01.03.07)
How disrespectful most of you are behaving. It is true shame to see jews behaving like this. They are dealing with their communal issues. If you didn't know, yes, these are the jewish religious laws. They are meant to minimize the sexual meshugas. Of course, all of you have no problems with sex, to our additional shame, there is an brand new adult film production in Israel. But, of course, there is nothing wrong with that.... Anyway, they didn't tell non-observant Jews what to do, this is internal religious matters. Go pick up your hebrew porno... I personnaly am reminded of the words of a prophet about the Jewish nation in her low state "Your shame is revealed to all, the nations have her between the straights." Nothing personnal.
81. To yacov
charles ,   petach tikva   (01.03.07)
You are not completely right , i have seen "kosher" on a conditory , but no certificate of Kashrut inside , so not always is Kosher truly kosher . This i can only condemn , misleading advertising . With a terafah label , at least you know that you have not to go inside if you observe Kashrut . It's what inside the package that is important , i have seen already too many nice packages with dirt inside .
82. Fly Low and make my day
hanina   (01.03.07)
And what happens when we trip on our long clothes, ripping the seams clear up to our navals and our bras have snapped open from fatigue causing buttons on our blouses to pop open and we are caught in a rain storm wearing white? Who is going to pick me up when I have fallen down revealing my NOT six million dollar legs? WHAT THEN GENTLEMEN?? Please make sure your flys are closed. Very important to remember!! :) How do these people urinate? Do they have a tube like the astraunuts?
83. dress
debbie ,   new orleans, LA   (01.04.07)
First of all women are constantly barking about being taken seriosuly and not looked upon as sex objects BUT then they dress half nude everywhere...seems like a contradiction to me.Yes,lets hear more from idiot secular israelis who marry anything with a cross and trust me I've seen enough to know. Then the idiots go to church and you know why? Bec they despise themselves and wish they were never born Jewish.Hence the comments you read here....!
84. Modest dress preserves the dignty & sanctity of human body
Judith ,   NY   (01.04.07)
The human body in Judaism is "Kadosh"-holy/sanctified & modest clothing emphasizes the dignity of the person no matter how reigious or irreligious he is. Everything can be taken to an extreme, but come on, most have enough common sense to know what is appropriate & smart dress that elevates one's self & projects a dignified figure.

Dorothy Friend ,   Tel Aviv   (01.04.07)
Which goes to Bnei Brak is RED! Why do they allow that?
86. To # 84 Judith
charles ,   petach tikva   (01.04.07)
The human body is kadosh , something kadosh has it to be hidden ? On a certain point i agree , a woman's body is Kadosh , do'nt touch [ without permission ] .
87. Debbie # 83
charles ,   petach tikva   (01.04.07)
What fantastic eyes you have : from New Orleans you have seen many "stupid" secular Israelis ..... There are certainly more mixed marriages in the USA than here . And if this occures , they do'nt go to church , children receive a Jewish education at school , and are serving the State . If you think women who dress "half nude" as you write do'nt desserve respect ? Or that they are missing self respect ? You are completely wrong . They are not thinking of themselve that they are sex "objects" , they simply feel good so . So i think this are not Israelis who are the stupids , but a inhabitant of New Orleans , ONE YOU
88. To Dorothy # 85
charles ,   petach tikva   (01.04.07)
Are they all red ? Wow !!! but i do'nt know why they accept that . And the Israel Post ? also red coloured vehicles ! And not to forget : Meat !!! They will have big halachic problems to solve . Rabbis , begin to work , much to do .
89. SAD HOW MUCH HATE....
Alexander Popivker   (01.04.07)
At least let's all agree that the behavior of the participants of this talkback and the article itself stinks, and should make any jew feel sad about out sorry state.
90. To Alexander
charles ,   petach tikva   (01.04.07)
Some participants are of course extreme in their views . All what they dislike is non Jewish , those lightly dressed women are pro......, only their behaviour is fine [ in their opinion ] So how should seculars have to react ? To let them talk in this way ? without response ? The state do'nt stinks , only some people . And here at least we have less criminality as in your Napels .
