What the rabbi is saying is that many gentiles as a group have traits antithetical to Judaism. Of course for his words to get any press coverage he has to make them inflammatory so people will hear...sadly the true message is lost..which is that Jewish unity is more important these days. The whole world has gone mad so it's relative anyway.

It looks like history is a little lost on this Rabbi. I seem to be remembering a time in history in which a leader of a people claimed his race was genetically superior. Religion turns people into righteous close minded douche's. No human is better than any other and at birth we are all equals.

I'm a Christian with 'Barbarian' genes (as far as I know). We Christians also have people who make pronouncements that make the rest of us cringe with embarrassment! Well said, Abe. This is a better Halachic reason for women to not go to sperm banks than for him to slam gentiles for imaginable traits on his part. Jews commit heinous crimes as well as gentiles. Why? Because we are all human beings full of human emotions and desires. He says that Jews are full of compassion and humility, yet I don't see these traits in Rabbi Lior.

I would like to remind the good Rabbi that Yad Vashem is full of the names and actions of many Righteous Gentiles who risked their lives to save, help, and conceal their Jewish neighbors from the horrors of the Nazis. Some even died for their deeds. These gentiles are inate barbarians?

Rabbi Lior says in essence: If you want to be absolutely sure, then you should f..k yourself. It's how he managed to get descendants, I bet! On the other side, I believe him, he behaves exactly how he described it: like the son of a single mother and of a lonely Gentile sperm.

What I find fascinating is how, despite having great respect for rabbis, I disagree with _everything_, this person said. Even the comment about motherhood, which I would ordinarily agree with unreservedly, because of its context - choose to rear children instead of developing your education - I must take exception to it. As would my wife (Carla DeLancy, M.A.), despite her having raised a wonderful child; again this is solely because child-rearing is not incompatible with graduate level studies. You have (inadvertently) touched on a very important point! The classical commentators - Alsheikh, Or HaHayyim to name but two - explain that the first generation faced a monumental task of self-purification in order to get to the state of being able to automatically pass on a Jewish soul to their descendants. Whilst it's true that the 'hereditary Judaism' - the soul - cannot be negated, there are plenty of genetic (ie physical) factors that have crept into the Jewish people and debased that stock to the point that the vast majority are today no different in any way from non-Jews. Their soul exerts no influence over them whatsoever, and most behave as if they feel more comfortable without it. They would really feel better being accepted as non-Jews, and do everything the can to reach that goal.

Observer, how do you detect: who has a Jewish soul and who doesn't ? You need a test. Here is one: if you gladly serve in the IDF and are prepared to defend the country, you DO have a Jewish soul. Simple and reliable.
