122. Erdogan can have his apology...
Michael Davison ,   Ra'anana, Israel   (08.17.11)
Here goes: Dear Mr. Erdogan: We are sorry you saw fit to support a terrorist gang on the "Free Palestine I" flotilla. We are sorry our soldiers were forced to kill Turkish citizens trying to break a legal blockade when they were attacked. Most of all, we are sorry that you do not understand the difference. = = = Now, as for ending the blockade--forget it. Get your friends in Gaza to stop trying to smuggle rockets and other advanced hardware, instead.
123. Assuming that Turkey delivered a deadline to Syria
Harry Wright ,   UK   (08.17.11)
to stop murdering its people based on somebody willing to attack Syria, let us say the US with Turkey's help, what is the position now that Israel has refused to apologise to Turkey? Was there a trade-off? Apology for Turkey's co-operation with the US? I suspect that is exactly what happened and I now assume the trade-off has fallen through. That would be a classic example of Obama and Clinton's bankrupt foreign policy of coercing Israel to allow the US to act in the ME. So that is another diplomatic disaster. When will they do ANYTHING right?????? When will they stop compromising Israel and act on their own as a superpower should!!!! Why are they SO WEAK????
124. actually Hell-ary & Imam just provided Tea-party, Republican
mary of Bethany ,   singapore   (08.17.11)
... some fun times during coming debates. Mdm Hellary and Mr Imam Husein, your poor poor thing, so desperate in securing some "bonus points" for the 2nd Term. Since you have zero interest in ME affairs, (maybe suck up arabs for oil only) and your love-affair for turkey only goes as far as your delight for the sweet "turkey delights" (beside this sweet white candy stuff, there's nothing worthy in turkey) so it's all about re-election right? Republicans, may it Perry, Michelle.. whoever, enjoy!
125. Apology
J.K. ,   Brooklyn USA   (08.17.11)
If Natanyahu, apologizes,he should be tarred and feathered, and kicked out of town, the turks should apologize for provoking Israel by organizing the terrorist flotilla.
126. NEVER APOLOGIZE
alan ,   TEL AVIV   (08.17.11)
WHEN WILL THE JEWISH PEOPLE REALIZE THE WORLD AND ESPECIALLY THE ISLAMIC FOLLOWERS ONLY UNDERSTAND STRENGTH . TURKEY TOOK ADVANTAGE. WHY SHOULD WE EVER APOLOGIZE.. THEY SHOULD BE BEGGING US FOR FORGIVENESS
127. Israel killed protesters in international water
LebanonPride ,   Canada   (08.17.11)
That is illegal. That is wrong. There was no threat on those ships, there was no weapons and there was no terrorists. Labelling these people terrorists and calling the aid they had weapons to justify killing them is lowest of the low. Israel should apologize, there is no reason for Turkey to apologize for Israel killing it's people. That's the stupidest thing I've ever heard.

It's Turkey who should apologize for the IHH provocation.
132. Nothing will stabilize

Israeli-Turkish relations under the current Turkish government. Let's be serious. Obummer doesn't have a clue about the mideast
133. No apology to Ankara
Chris Athens ,   Athens Greece   (08.17.11)
15 years ago in Cyprus ,at 11/8/1996, during a Greekcypriot rally at Derinia against turkish occupation, an activist named Tasos Isaac found himself isolated and surrounded by Turks and Turkcypriots. He was lynched to death with sticks, identical to thosed used at Mavi Marmara, by Grey wulf members and Turkcypriot security forces. Turkey never apologized for this crime, not to mention about compensation.3 days later his cousin Solomos Solomu, was shot dead by these same Turkcypriot security forces, while trying to put down a turkish flag from its mast. The ones who might doubt about these may look at Wikipidia. That exactly would have been the fate of Israeli soldiers who boarded Mavi Marmara, in case they didn't react agaist the furious and outraged "peace activists" who attacked them in murderous mood. The soldiers were obeying orders to take control of the ship, but they would not be stupid enough to risk their lives against those armed with sticks and knifes fanatics. Although I am sure that neither Israel is happy with this tragic end, the main responsibility belongs to the ones who decided to attack against these soldiers. At least the turkish goverment understood her previous mistake and canceled the second flotilla. All the rest is empty politics. If someone is in fault ,this is Turkey not Israel.
134. To nr 118 - Apologize for what? The Turks nearly lynched..
Alexander ,   Tel Aviv, Israel   (08.17.11)
...our soldiers. IDF repeatedly warned the crew and passengers of Marmara of not approaching Gaza or else IDF would be forced to board them, which IDF did. And the first few IDF soldiers that boarded Marmara were attacked by an angry mob armed with sticks, baseball bats, knives and stabbing weapons. And many of those Turkish "freedom fighters" OPENLY screamed "death to Jews" and Nazi slogans. If anyone should apologize is YOU - a stranger from nowhere and Turkey. WE will apologize for absolutely nothing. If the hot headed Turks simply cannot accept that the Ottoman/Turkish empire is long gone, that's their problem, but they will not bully us - plain and simple. I don't care about the "international community" - "it" doesn't exist and doesn't seem to care about Israel. We are no doormat, we are no toy, we are no pet and we are no banana republic. We are an independent and sovereign Jewish nation of free men, women and children and we DEMAND respect from other nations. If Turkey decides to escalate the conflict with Israel, the Turks should say a silent blessing for their survival. If the Turks don't believe or trust Israel's military power they will soon learn it is real. Shalom from an Israeli patriot.
135. compairing apples with pears
tiki ,   belgium   (08.17.11)
US & Turkey want to end the violence in Syria....who doesn't. I fail to understand what this has to do with appologising to Turkey over the killing of some murderous Turkish terrorists. This way of thinking fits primitiv Erdogan. I'm sure the US has more moral dignity than that, but have lost their credibility on many fronts with this administration.
136. WITH FRIENDS LIKE OBAMA AND CLINTON....
Ian ,   Newcastle upon Tyne   (08.17.11)

137. Political importance & location
Gideon Reader ,   USA   (08.17.11)
In all things regarding the current President of the United States and his entire forign policy team and their initiatives on his behalf; especially Hilarious clintoon. Success of the administration may be found in the top tier states which border Canada. The Upper United States. To them I say, seek political success there. Upper U.S. for EVERY entre Upper U.S. That is my statement and advice. Whenever I thing of either of those not so worthies, I always thing, UPPER U.S. Terry in Eliat will understand the logic of what I offer.
138. Ulterior Motives
Paul ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (08.17.11)
Perhaps Bibi finally understands that anything the International community, the Islamic Nations and the deteriorating Western world wants from Israel, is to control it, weaken it and set it up for further de-legitimization. Germany in the 1930-40's was not a fluke, it is the way the world has dealt with Jews for centuries. What took place on sea was a malicious provocation, Israel needs an apology.
139. Obama is not all that makes Democrats despicable.
Chaim ,   Israel   (08.17.11)
Almost everything Hillary Clinton does; both domestically and on the foreign policy front, make it clear Obama is not all that makes Democrats despicable. Clinton's policies on virtually every issue are the same as Obama's. Had Clinton won the election, instead of Obama, the difference would be very slight. Clinton and Obama, and many other leading Democrats, appear to share the determination to bankrupt America, enfeeble America, turn their backs on America's long term allies while pathetically begging at the feet of America's foes. Clinton's ludicrous demand for Israel to apologize to Turkey for a blatant act of aggressions against Israel is simply another case in point.

What does your post have to do with this article? To answer your question, perhaps they are the same people that say "All Texans are stupid." If you exclude the Jews that voted for Obama, they are a very smart group of people. The world could learn a lot from them.
141. Thank god
stan ,   USA   (08.17.11)
In a better world, the US would be demanding that Turkey apologize to Israel for the terrorist pro-Hamas flotilla. By now only the biggest fool can have failed to realize that Obama is completely anti-Israel.
142. What ever will become of Israel
Christian ,   Sweden   (08.17.11)

143. IF MR NETANYAHU DOES APOLOGISE....
Ian ,   Newcastle upon Tyne   (08.17.11)
.....he'd better have a second apology ready for the Israel public.Attached to his resignation letter. Maybe Mr Netanyahu should treat himself to a long weekend off with his 'phone off the hook.Just until the Palmer Report is FINALLY published. THREE CHEERS FOR ISRAEL!!!

148. apology
Sam M ,   UK   (08.17.11)
The barking mad 'jihadis' who threatened the lives of the Israeli commandos were quite properly despatched according to rules of engagement accepted throughout the western world though not i hasten to add in the arab world where standards are a great deal more primitive. In any event the 'shahids' of the Mavi Mamara were baying for martyrdom like crazed hounds and are (if you believe such things) enjoying their islamic heaven with all the trimmings! So apologise to the Turkish goverment that promoted and encouraged their voyage and then cried foul? No need to. Their government has been exposed as hypocritical and backward. Their demand for an 'apology' is just a cheap way to earn some brownie points from the arab world and doesn't cut the mustard in more sophisticated countries though allowances of course have to be made for Turkish pride the same pride that makes it so difficult to apologise for the genocide of the Armenians and the persecution Kurds. In any event the arabs don't trust the Turks (and vise versa) and have plenty of bullies and dictators of their own so it looks like there's no room at the inn for the weasels in Ankara!
149. To number 134
Sipahi ,   Istanbul TURKEY   (08.17.11)
Dear Alexander, yes we saw Israeli military power in the second Lebanese war against Hezbollah. What do you think you can do against Turkey? Nothing. How are you so sure that Turkey hasn't got nukes? Moreover, Iran and Pakistan have nukes. Do you think that they will stand still if you attack Turkey with nukes? What Israel can do Turkey is harm, but Turkish army can destroy Israel in an unintervened war. But it is so sure that both parties will never engage in direct combat, instead will use other factors. I hope that both nations will act rationally in the future, and Israel will apologize for killing activist in INTERNATIONAL water. Both Turks and Israelis shall be friends, as they used to be in the past.
150. Turkish Justice
Ehai ,   London, England   (08.17.11)
The fact that Turkish citizens lost their lives is regrettable but the State of Israel should feel no compulsion to issue an official apology. It is the Turkish government who should shoulder the regret for allowing the flotilla to go ahead without the proper controls. The Turkish government was forewarned of the dangers but arrogantly ignored the warnings. It is the Turkish government who should formulate any financial compensations moreover since their failure to observe international law is to blame for the fatal incident. The Turkish government is piling insult upon insult by asking for compensation. The dignity of the State of Israel is worth more than this demand to bow and submit to what amounts to international condemnation. The Israeli combatants involved in the incident were defending themselves and Israel. They were also trying to pre-empt the delivery of materials to Gaza which might have brought Palestinians into military conflict with Israelis. Israel is justified and should feel proud of the outcome. The deaths are regrettable but it is the Turkish government who deserves the blame for that. Erdogan is being populist. His stature in this matter is ridiculous.
