The rain, and accidents, are back: A 20-year-old man was killed and four more people sustained moderate to serious wounds in a head-on collision Wednesday morning on Highway 90, in the upper Galilee in northern Israel.
The road where the accident occurred was particularly slippery after it rained in the area for a while. Heavy traffic jams were reported in the wake of the accident.
The two vehicles collided shortly after 6 a.m. Two fire department crews dispatched to the scene removed the injured from the two cars but had trouble extracting the body of the man killed in the crash. Investigators have been called to the scene and are looking into the circumstances of the accident.
Magen David Adom paramedic Orly Ben-Simon, who was the first to arrive at the scene, told Ynet: “The vehicles were smashed at the front…it was raining as we were treating the wounded. We dispatched the fire department crews because the injured were trapped.”
Meanwhile, rain has been reported across the country Wednesday, making road conditions slippery across the nation.
