Jerusalem terror alert lifted

Earlier Sunday, police boost presence in capital, roadblocks erected in wake of terror warning

The high terror alert declared in Jerusalem Sunday evening has been lifted, but police forces continue to operate throughout the capital.

Earlier, forces in and around Jerusalem went on high alert in the wake of a terror warning.

Police presence was boosted in response to the warning, particularly in the south of the city. Officers set up both overt and covert roadblocks around the capital and are screening vehicles in southern and central Jerusalem.

Forces also boosted their operations around the capital and more patrols, both motorized and on-foot, were added to the regular security routine.

Although the focus is on the southern section of the capital, forces boosted their presence in the north of the city as well, while IDF troops were deployed in force around Jerusalem.

Authorities also instructed the Magen David Adom ambulance service to go on high alert, with ambulances ready to respond in case an attack does take place.

At this time, security authorities are dealing with 42 terror warnings regarding plans by terror groups to carry out attacks in Israel
