Peres likely to be Kadima MK

Former Labor Chairman Shimon Peres tells Ynet he is 'inclined' to join Kadima's candidates list for Knesset; criticizes Labor for campaign, management errors. PM associates say Sharon will comply with Peres' wish

Former Labor Chairman Shimon Peres told Ynet there are good chances he will join Kadima as candidate in the party's list for Knesset.

Until recently, Peres has been said to have relinquished the prospects of a parliamentary seat in favor of a "senior statehood post" in Prime Minister Ariel Sharon's next government.

However, the veteran politician said on Thursday that although he has yet to make a final decision, he is inclined to join the list.

"I can't remain both without a party and without being an MK. I expect to make the decision soon," Peres said.

Senior associates of the PM said he would easily comply with Peres' wish.

Peres' integration into the list may help resolve the recent internal struggle in Kadima between MKs Ehud Olmert and Tzipi Livni over the second spot on the list.

Several opinion polls revealed in the past week that Kadima supporters back the idea that Peres will perform as Sharon's replacement.

In interview to Ynet, Peres has also commented on the recent political and media moves by the Labor party and its head Amir Peretz. According to the former chairman, Labor has been making judgment errors in its campaign and management.

"An elections campaign is a mistake-prone competition, and Peretz has made a lot of mistakes," Peres stated.
