CT scan: Sharon no longer bleeding

Hospitalized prime minister undergoes routine test; results similar to last week's scan

Prime Minister Ariel Sharon does not suffer from hemorrhages and all tested parameters are intact, Hadassah hospital said following a routine CT scan Sunday evening.

Earlier, the hospital said there was no change in the prime minister's condition, and added that his condition remains serious and stable.

During an operation on the prime minister last week, a breathing tube connected to his respirator was replaced after a technical problem.

The operation, which took place between Tuesday night and Wednesday morning last week, was carried out successfully.

Over the weekend, Yedioth Ahronoth, Israel's leading newspaper, said that Sharon would soon be disconnected from his respirator after a slight improvement in his condition.

Last Thursday, Sharon underwent an additional operation in order to minimize the chances of pollutants entering his windpipe.

Less than a week ago, Sharon reportedly opened his eyes for the first time since suffering a major stroke. The encouraging development took place after a recording of his grandson was played to him.

Following the reports, Sharon's relatives and associates expressed optimism over the prospect of an improvement in the prime minister's condition. Since then, however, no further progress has been reported.
