Sex in the air traffic control tower

Two female soldiers serving as air traffic controllers claim their supervisor abused his position to have sex with them inside control tower on several occasions; supervisor reprimanded but not dismissed

Instead of being on high alert, launching planes on short notice and landing incoming flights, some of the Israeli Air Force air traffic controllers were busy having sex in the flight control tower.

The fraternization took place on several occasions, away from the watchful eyes of the other soldiers and commanders: One of the supervising air traffic controllers had sex with a female controller serving under his command. During several other shifts the same man had sex with another female air traffic controller.

The sexcapades of the supervisor with his two subordinates all took place during a nightwatch, during which flight controllers are required to be on alert to launch planes, approve take-offs and landings, and guide pilots coming in and out of the landing strip.

It was also discovered that the male supervisor spent the night at the female flight controller's barracks, against army regulations.

The incidents were exposed after the two female soldiers complained that the supervisor used his position and influence in the control tower to coerce them into having sex with him. One of the female soldiers even claims that she did not consent to some of the sexual acts between the two.

Following the incident the women's department of training at the IAF dispatched letters to commanders, describing the incident and reminding them of the regulations in such cases, particularly stressing the complete separation of male and female barracks.

The supervisor was indicted, tried, reprimanded, and was prevented from enlisting to standing army service, in contrary to the typical practice of flight controllers at the IAF.

It should be noted that flight controllers serving in IAF bases have their barracks separated from the rest of the base, near the remotely-stationed flight control tower.
