Olmert: Prisoner exchange would weaken moderate PA members
Prime Minister, Ehud Olmert, said that Israel didn’t agree to release Palestinian prisoners in exchange for Gilad Shalit.
"There was no negotiation for the soldier's release and we didn't accept an offer on this subject. It was decided unanimously that the starting point of any deal is the soldier's unconditional release. The moment we negotiate a prisoner exchange with Hamas, we weaken moderate PA members and make it harder for them to do their job," said Olmert. (Ilan Marciano)
