Shelling in Israel? Tour goes on

There is war in Israel, but UK reform teens have no intention to cancel their summer visit

More than 100 members of UK Reform youth group RSY-Netzer will travel to Israel as part of an annual Israel tour summer scheme.

Despite the current conflict in the Middle East, the group of 15-year-olds is keen to visit Israel and be seen as supporting the country.

Reform head Rabbi Tony Bayfield is also joining the tour and will spend the first few days with the young travelers.

"In these troublesome times, RSY-Netzer is wholly confident in the security structure of the Jewish Agency who remains on high alert and ready to coordinate any necessary modifications to our programs," said RSY-Netzer leader Charlie Gluckman.

"We wish those going on Tour to have a safe, wonderful and meaningful experience."

As well as Rabbi Bayfield flying to Israel other senior representatives from the UK Reform movement will also be visiting the country over the coming weeks including Mike Grabiner, chair of movement and Board member Jenny Pizer.
