Assad speaks to Russia's deputy foreign minister
Syrian President Bashar Assad met in Damascus with the Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Saltanov. The Syrian news agency reported that the two spoke about the "Israeli attacks on Lebanon and Palestine and the continued escalation of the Israeli military against innocent civilians and infrastructure."
Saltanov also briefed Assad about the recent G8 meeting and Russia's efforts to bring a ceasefire in Lebanon. (Roee Nahmias)
