Report: Israel asked UK help on ceasefire last week
The As-Sennara newspaper, which is published in Nazareth, reported that Israel turned to British Ambassador Simon McDonald last weekend asking that he urge Prime Minister Tony Blair to act along with the US to promote a ceasefire with Hizbullah.
The report said Israel was hoping f or a ceasefire due to disagreement between the security establishment and the political echelon, but President George W. Bush refused. (Roee Nahmias)
