The IDF reported that a tank hit two Palestinians spotted carrying antitank missiles near an IDF force in the Sajaiya neighborhood. The identity of the casualties is still unknown.
In recent hours, Palestinians have reported of recurring exchanges of fire between the sides. Several Palestinians were injured in the exchanges of fire, one of them a five-year-old child who was moderately wounded in his back, according to sources in the Strip.
The Palestinians claimed that they fired an antitank missile, but according to the IDF there were no injuries in the incident.
Tuesday evening's strike took place in the same neighborhood where the IDF struck Monday morning, killing four Hamas gunmen, as part of Operation Locked Garden carried out by the IDF in the Strip in recent days.
The IDF's operation in the Sajaiya neighborhood, which began at the beginning of the week, constitutes another chapter in a series of operations inside the Strip, which began shortly after the attack near Kerem Shalom, in which two fighters were killed and Corporal Gilad Shalit was kidnapped.
Although the IDF admitted during the war in the north that Operation Summer Rains had ended, military officials made it clear that the operations against terror organizations in the strip will continue.
