Italian PM: Assad promised to implement Resolution 1701
Italian Prime Minister Romano Prodi told Vice Premier Shimon Peres that he spoke to Syrian President Bashar Assad who promised him that he would act to ensure that the ceasefire and UN Security Council Resolution 1701 are implemented.
Peres told Prodi that the IDF will retreat from Lebanon after the deployment of 5,000 Lebanese soldiers in the area. (Attila Somfalvi)
