New Year: Police on highest alert level
Security establishment receives 18 specific warnings from Samaria (northern West Bank) and Gaza regarding terrorists’ intentions to carry out suicide, shooting and Qassam attacks
Police will go on their highest level of alert Friday morning for fear of terror attack attempts during the New Year holiday.
The security establishment has received 18 specific warnings from Samaria (northern West Bank) and Gaza regarding terrorists’ intentions to carry out suicide, shooting and Qassam attacks.
Backed by IDF troops, thousands of police and Border Guard officers, as well as Civil Guard volunteers, will deploy in city centers, cemeteries, synagogues, markets and entertainment hubs.
The security operations, including the setting up of roadblocks, will take place from the Green Line area and into the inner cities; a special emphasis will be placed on preventing infiltrations into the country.
A senior IDF sources said regarding the full closure that will be imposed on the West Bank and Gaza over the holiday, “There are constant attempts to carry out and encourage terror attacks against Israel. Nablus is the largest terror center in the West Bank.
“There is a deceptive silence, and the security establishment is constantly working against the terror organizations,” he said.
