A Hamas militant died Sunday while digging an underground tunnel to be used in the Islamic group’s fight against Israel, Hamas said in a statement. The group did not identify the location of the tunnel.
It was the first time Hamas announced that a member had died while digging tunnels, used by militant groups in Gaza both to smuggle weapons from Egypt and, at times, to penetrate Israel and carry out attacks. (AP)
