Gaza Strip: IDF strikes 3 buildings

Palestinians report aircraft fired missile at home of member of group's military wing, who lives next to Palestinian prime minister; no injuries reported. IDF reports it attacked three buildings used by Hamas members

Palestinian sources in the Gaza Strip reported Friday evening that the Israel Air Force fired a missile at the home of Ala Akilan, a member of Hamas' military wing.

According to the report, the house is located at the Shati refugee camp, where Palestinian Prime Minister Ismail Haniyeh also lives. There were no reports of injuries in the attack.

The Israel Defense Forces reported that in a joint operation by the Southern Command and the IAF, the IDF struck a building used as an office and an operations room of the Hamas organization in Gaza, and a building in the northern Strip neighborhood of Sajaiya, which was used as a meeting place for group activists.

Shortly afterwards, the IDF launched an air strike on a building used as a Hamas operations room in the Sheikh Radouan neighborhood in Gaza City. According to the IDF, the building was used to assemble, organize and direct activists to carry out terror attacks against Israel.

At the end of the strike, residents were called not to stay in houses in which weapons are stored. Several explosions were heard in the area after the strike, apparently testifying to the fact that the building was also used to store weapons.

The IDF said that the operation against the Palestinian terror infrastructures will continue.

The IDF operation took place after four Qassam rockets were fired Friday at Sderot and the western Negev.

The first rocket fired by Palestinians in northern Gaza landed in an open field near a western Negev community. A few hours later three more rockets were fired toward Israel; one landed near a kibbutz cafeteria, while the others landed in open fields in close proximity to another Negev kibbiutz.

No injuries were reported in either incident, but severe damage was done to a kibbutz structure.
