'Lost Tribe' of Jews from India's remote northeast immigrates

Around 200 people of Jewish ancestry in India's remote northeast who claim links to a lost tribe of Israel, who call themselves Bnei Menashe, immigrated to Israel on Saturday.

"We wept as our families were getting separated and cheered because our friends and relatives have been lucky to return to Israel, the biblical promised land," said Elishega Khiangte, a mother of three and member of the community, which numbers about 6,000. (AP)
