More than 100 people wounded in the bombings at the resorts of Taba and Ras Shitan on the Egyptian-Israeli border, an area popular with Israeli tourists. Thirteen Israelis were killed.

The court sentenced two other defendants to life imprisonment, and another eight received sentences ranging from five to 15 years in prison for playing lesser roles in the attacks.

A defense lawyer, Ahmed Seif el-Iadslam, criticized the sentences as being "unjust."
