West Bank: IDF kills teenager, 2 terror suspects

During disturbances in village near Tulkarm, soldiers fire at demonstrators; 14-year-old girl seriously injured, later dies of her wounds. In other incidents in West Bank, commander of Fatah's military wing another wanted suspect also killed

Israeli forces continue to operate throughout West Bank despite agreed upon truce with Palestinian Authority: A 14-year-old girl was killed Tuesday afternoon by Israel Defense Forces fire in a village near Tulkarm. IDF officials reported that Palestinians rioting near the security fence in the area began hurling stones. Soldiers fired at the rioters, injuring the girl.

The girl was taken to the Rabim Medical Center in Petah Tikva, where she died of her wounds. Another girl who was injured in the incident was hospitalized in a Palestinian hospital.

Earlier, a wanted Palestinian man belonging to Fatah was killed and two others also belonging to the organization were wounded after trying to escape arrest during a Special Forces operation in Nablus.

Later Tuesday, Border Guard forces killed another wanted Palestinian in the village of Tzaida, near Tulkarm.

The man killed was identified as Muhammad Hamed, the al-Aqsa Martyrs' Brigades commander in northern Tulkarm. According to the soldiers, Hamed approached them as they arrived at a garage in the village and pulled out a gun. The force fired at him and killed him. Two explosive devices were found in his car.

Palestinian sources said that the man killed in Nablus was identified as Rami Einav, a member of the al-Aqsa Martyrs’ Brigades, Fatah's military wing.

The army said its troops identified a vehicle carrying three wanted men, surrounded it and opened fire when the men attempted to escape.

Defense establishment sources said the wounded Palestinians, Imad Abu-Maslam and Talal Abu Lil, were evacuated to an Israeli hospital for treatment and later questioned.

The army said all three were responsible for drafting suicide bombers and planning attacks against Israelis. Abu-Maslam is suspected of aiding Fadi Kapisha, a senior al-Aqsa member who was responsible for the manufacturing of explosive belts and bombs and was killed in a gun battle with IDF troops last September.

Also on Tuesday, Palestinians hurled an explosives device at Israel Defense Forces troops operating near the Jenin refugee camp, the army said. No one was injured but a military vehicle was damaged in the attack.

In another incident Palestinians opened fire at soldiers during the arrest of wanted Palestinians in the West Bank town of Tulkarm; no injuries were reported.

IDF soldiers apprehended nine terror suspects in arrest raids carried out across the West Bank overnight Tuesday, the army said.
