UN Chief dispatches Mideast envoy amid rising concern
UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon has assigned new Middle East envoy Michael Williams to the region for talks after a week of deadly violence involving internal Palestinian clashes, Israeli military operations and Palestinian rocket attacks.
Williams is currently en route to the Middle East and is expected to start holding meetings on Thursday with senior Israeli and Palestinian officials, UN spokesperson Michele Montas told journalists Wednesday. (Ynet)
