Abbas: Start negotiations for Palestinian state

“The region is at a crossroads; the way of peace, or the way of violence,” Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas said during his speech in Sharm el-Sheik Monday.
“I call on my partner, Prime Minister Olmert, to start negotiations based on an agreed upon timetable, for the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with east Jerusalem as its capital,” Abbas added. (Ronny Sofer, Sharm el-Sheikh)
