The IDF is prepared to carry out an operation to free captured serviceman Gilad Shalit if the government gives it the green light to do so, an officer said Tuesday.
Lieutenant Colonel Yoav Tilan, the head of battalion 71 in the armored corps in which Shalit served, spoke during a ceremony to mark the first anniversary of the serviceman's kidnapping in a cross-border attack carried out by Hamas gunmen near the Gaza Strip. (Hanan Greenberg)
