The Israeli standard
of living is on the rise, said the Central Bureau of Statistics in a report published Wednesday.
Most households' expenses totaled NIS 8,711 a month in 2006, rising 1.8% over 2005's NIS 8,378.
According to CBS data, in 2006 the average household spent NIS 11,133 a month on consumer goods and services – a 0.8% increase from 2005's NIS 10,816 per month.

Average household expenditures in 2006 were made up of 16.6% for foods, 21.4% for housing, 20.7% for transportation and communications and 13.6% for education and entertainment.
According to CBS data, household expenses in the top 5% of the echelon were NIS 17,379 per month in 2006 – 2.6 times higher than that of the bottom 5%, which were NIS 6,688.
Households in the top 5% of the echelon had 1.6 working people for a household of 2.7 people in average in 2006, while those in the bottom 5% had 0.6 working people for a household of 4.3 people in average.
The Central Bureau of Statistics report for 2006 further revealed that 85.1% of all households had at least one telephone line, 87.2% of them had at least one cellular phone, 65.8% had at least one computer and 54.6% were connected to the internet.
