Israel Police recommended Sunday pressing charges against former Finance Minister Abraham Hirchson, on suspicion of fraud, theft, falsifying corporate documents, breach of trust and money laundering.
The investigation, conducted by the police and the Tax Authority, found sufficient evidence against Hirchson, whose alleged felonies took place when he was the chairman of the Histadrut Leumit in 1995 and for some time after that.
The police have turned the case over to State Prosecutor Eran Shendar and the Tel Aviv District Prosecutor's Office for further review.
Hirchson suspended himself last April, after it was announced he was a suspect in an ongoing police investigation. He resigned as Finance Minister in July.
The police have also investigated the possible involvement of Hirchson's son, Ofer, in the case.
