Myanmar's military government announced Tuesday night a curfew and a ban on assemblies of more than five persons, witnesses said. The 9pmTo 5am curfew and the meeting ban were announced through loudspeakers on vehicles cruising through the streets of Yangon, the country's biggest city, and
Mandalay, they said.
The announcement said the measures would be in effect for 60 days. Troops were deployed earlier Tuesday in downtown Yangon, and seen gathering at a military center in Mandalay. (AP)
