Gaza resident allegedly beaten by Hamas

Fatah member ends up in Ashkelon hospital after reportedly suffering brutal beating by Hamas gunmen

Sammy, a 44-year-old Gaza resident and Fatah member, was hospitalized at the Barzilai Medical Center in Ashkelon last week, after being brutally beaten by alleged Hamas members.

He lay in bed with his brother by his side, and under the protection of another man. Sammy used to work in Tel Aviv, until the day Hamas members arrived at his home.

“They dragged me out of the house by force, at gunpoint,” he said. “They tied me up and started beating me all over my body. My entire body ached. They broke my bones and even my penis had blisters.

“They claimed I was cooperating with the Israeli authorities, and that I was betraying my people and homeland. I begged and swore it was not true. I got down on all fours, and swore on the sacred land that I wasn’t guilty of betrayal.

“They took me to a ditch they had dug, and told me it was my grave. They lowered me into it with a gun to my head, and threatened to kill me. I was sure it was my end. But then they suddenly decided to let me go.”

Sammy was apparently saved thanks to his brother, who received information about what was being done to his brother, and hurriedly called senior Hamas members, threatening that if Sammy were hurt, they would suffer the consequences.

Sammy was promptly released and reached Barzilai Medical Center in Ashkelon by unknown means.

The hospital treated Sammy, who arrived there with his body covered in bruises and blisters. His condition improved during the week, and he was released Thursday.
