Father, 2 teenagers killed in road accident

Car traveling on Jordan Valley road slams into oncoming traffic killing 3, injuring 2

A head-on collision on the Jordan Valley road Tuesday left a forty-year-old father and his two teenage children dead and injured two others.

Primary findings indicate that the car that was traveling south on the road veered from its lane and smashed head-on into the car coming from the other direction. After the accident, the police closed the road in both directions.

Dubi Tal, the head of the Jordan Valley Regional Council, told Ynet: "The accident occurred six miles south of Mehola. An IDF helicopter landed in the area in order to evacuate the injured and take them to the hospital. Magen David Adom and Zaka teams as well as local police and firefighters came to the scene."

The funeral for three victims of Sunday's road accident on the Arava road that killed four people was held in Jerusalem Tuesday. Chaim (Charles) Bernstein, 54, his wife Roberta, 49, and their daughter, Batsheva, 18, were killed along with Sharon Sabag, 49, of Beit Lehem Haglilit in a head-on collision 50 kilometers north of Eilat.

The Bernstein's daughter, Ofra, gave the eulogy at the funeral saying: "A lot of who I am today is because of you." She thanked her father for teaching her to be curious and ask questions. She spoke of her admiration of her mother for the latter's work with victims of terror. She also spoke of how much she admired her parents for their decision to move to Israel from the US.
