Olmert meets with Teacher's Association chairman Ran Erez
Prime Minster Ehud Olmert met on Sunday evening with Middle and High School Teachers' Association chairman Ran Erez for the first time since thousands of teachers went on strike over 50 days ago. Olmert, Erez and other prominent education ministry met in Olmert's Jerusalem residence for a Hanukkah celebration.
Officials at the prime minister’s office noted that the meeting did not concern the ongoing teachers’ strike, but rather targeted problems within the education system as well as necessary educational reforms. Cabinet Secretary Oved Yechezkel said that Olmert "intends to personally contend with the problems facing our education system in order to advance it.” (Ronny Sofer)
