Egypt: Mubarak meets with Iranian Parliament speaker

Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak met in Cairo with Iranian Parliament Speaker Gholamali Haddadadel, the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) reported Wednesday.

At the end of the meeting Haddadadel said, "Mubarak stressed that he was not under American pressure regarding the relations between Cairo and Tehran." The ties between the two countries were cut in 1979 after the Islamic revolution in Iran and following the peace agreement signed between Egypt and Israel. (Dudi Cohen)
