PM's aides say do not recall Israeli commitment to cede Golan Heights

The Prime Minister's Office said Wednesday that contrary to foreign reports, Israel did not agree to cede the Golan Heights as part of the new peace negotiations between Jerusalem and Damascus.

"The talks are based on the understanding reached in the (1991) Madrid Conference. We do not recall Israel agreeing to cede to Golan," said an Olmert aide. (Roni Sofer)
