Syria is ready to break off its close links with Iran if the United States gives it financial and military backing, former Foreign Ministry Director-General Alon Liel told The Sunday Telegraph.
According to Liel, who has been involved in the indirect dialogue between Israel and Syria over the past months, progress has been made in the talks but long months of negotiations may still be ahead. (Ynet)
