Magnitude 6.2 quake rattles southern Peru

A magnitude 6.2 earthquake shook southern Peru early on Tuesday, killing at least one person in the Andean country's second-largest city, Arequipa, and damaging scores of homes.

The epicenter of the quake was located 35 miles (55 km) north-northwest of Arequipa, according to the US Geological Survey. It was recorded at a depth of 45 miles (73 km). (Reuters)
