Olympic Lebanese marksman short of ammunition due to Resolution 1701

Lebanese marksman Ziad Richa faced enough challenges in his Olympic bid before a UN Security Council resolution curbed his ammunition supply.

"1701 forbids the export of shotguns or cartridges from the United States or Europe to Beirut," said Richa, referring to the UN resolution issued in 2006 which ended the Second Lebanon War. "We are using local ammunition, which is not as good as the foreign ammunition, or we buy cartridges through Cyprus or Turkey," he said. (Reuters)
