2 Japanese reporters detained, beaten by Chinese police
Two Japanese journalists working at the deadly scene of Monday’s attack in Xinjiang, were briefly detained and beaten by police in western China, triggering a protest by the Japanese government. Chinese officials later apologized.
The incident, which allegedly also involved several reporters from other countries, occurred just four days before the Beijing Olympics' opening ceremony on Friday. (AP)
