Mofaz: Releasing prisoners viewed as weakness, not as gesture
Transportation Minister Shaul Mofaz said Monday that “the step taken to release prisoners is not viewed as a gesture but rather as a weakness. Israel released hundreds of prisoners in the last few months and Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas’ stance has not changed. Gilad Shalit is still in his kidnappers’ hands.
“Why are we assisting Abbas instead of taking care of Gilad Shalit’s release first?” he asked at the ministerial committee meeting in which the decision to release 200 Palestinian prisoners was approved. (Roni Sofer)
