Tourism Minister Ruhama Avraham Balila sent a letter Wednesday to her Jordanian counterpart, Maha al-Khatib, as well as her Palestinian counterpart, Dr. Khuloud Daibes, in honor of her new role within the Tourism Ministry.
In the letter Avraham Balila wrote that since for the first time three women are occupying the offices of tourism ministers within the three countries, it could be an "excellent opportunity" to create a precedent for cooperation between Israel, Jordan, and the Palestinian Authority within the realm of researching new potential for tourism within the region.
She added that she was convinced "that Israel, Jordan, and the Palestinian Authority can cooperate as neighbors and regional partners, thus promoting tourism in the area and assisting the region's economy and image as a tourist destination."
Avraham Balila concluded the letter with hopes for a trilateral meeting between the three women, and even informed her counterparts that she had already asked office representatives to coordinate the summit with the Jordanian and Palestinian offices.
