Suspicion: Israeli mother, daughter ran prostitution ring in London

Following covert investigation duo arrested on suspicion of tricking Israeli women into working in prostitution

An Israeli mother and daughter were arrested under suspicion of operating a prostitution ring in London. The mother was brought to the Petach Tikvah magistrate's court on Monday. Her daughter has been remanded for seven days.

Members of the international crimes unit arrested the two when they landed at the Ben Gurion International Airport. The mother (54) and daughter (28) are also accused of false imprisonment, assault and theft.

The case was uncovered by the 'Worker's Hotline' organization, whose employees were approached by victims who'd responded to an ad that promised "work abroad with a profit of $1,000 a day." The police unit opened a covert investigation that led to 15 women employed in prostitution. According to police, the women have agreed to testify.

Findings thus far indicate that the women were interviewed and chosen by the daughter, Katherine. Once in London, they were transferred to apartments and only then told about the nature of the employment. They were given cellular telephones in order to be available to clients.

Only 40% of the profits were given to the women and they were charged additional room and board.
