US: Russia not complying with Georgia cease-fire

Russia is violating a European Union-brokered cease-fire by maintaining troops in two disputed Georgian territories, US Undersecretary of State Daniel Fried said Monday.

"The cease-fire accord that President Sarkozy negotiated requires that all the Russian armed forces withdraw to their positions before the outbreak of hostilities," Fried said. "The Russians have not done so, and therefore they are not in compliance with the cease-fire."  (AP)
