Knesset Member Ophir Pines-Paz announced to Labor Party Chairman Ehud Barak on Thursday that he has decided to remain with the party, rather than concede to appeals to join the Meretz Party.

"I will do everything to help the party succeed in the upcoming elections," Pines told Ynet.

Education Minister Yuli Tamir has also informed Barak she does not plan in quitting the party.

"Pines is a key Labor figure, and it is only natural that he be among those leading the party's election campaign," a Labor official said.

Meanwhile, Ynet has learned that millionaire businessman Avi Shaked plans to run for a slot on Labor's roster for the second time.

Shaked ran in the previous primary election under the slogan "millionaire and socialist". He explained to his affiliates that he wanted to donate his personal experience to Israeli society.
