At the start of 2009 there will be 7.4 million people living in Israel, the Central Bureau of Statistics reported. Of the total Israeli population, 75.5% are Jewish, 20.2% Arab and 4.3% are defined as "Other".
As in the past five years, the natural reproduction in 2008 stood at 1.8%, and the number of new immigrants arriving in Israel was 13,500 – a 25% drop compared to 2007. (Ynet)
