Police officers shot to death Thursday a Palestinian man who allegedly tried to torch a gas station in the Mishor Adumim area near Jerusalem.
The background for the incident is unclear at this time and the police will attempt to determine whether the incident was related to the IDF's military operation in Gaza.
The Judea and Samaria Police received a report of a Palestinian trying to set a gas station in Mishor Adumim ablaze. Officers who arrived at the scene called on the man to stop. They said that he started running towards them holding up a suspicious object in his hand. The policemen then opened fire at the man and killed him.
One person, who works at the gas station, was lightly injured in the fire and evacuated by Magen David Adom emergency services to a hospital in Jerusalem.
An MDA paramedic told Ynet that eyewitnesses at the scene said that the Palestinian tried to pour gasoline on the worker and set him on fire. He added that the worker sustained light burns to his head and palms.
